#166: Teacher stands up against board. Laziness isn’t godliness. Why always right is wrong.

09JUN21: Lilit Vanetsyan, a teacher in Fairfax County, Virginia, confronted school board officials in neighboring Loudon County on Tuesday to push back against what she described as radical lesson plans that will teach kids to "root for socialism by the time they get to middle school." I share a video of Lilit and one of my own daughter challenging her teacher during a lesson.

One of the two most significant statistics from this morning’s jobs report: Workers aren’t coming back. Data released by the Labor Department this morning show that last month, 61.6 percent of the working-age population were active in the labor force, either working in jobs or looking for them. The second most significant statistic is that wages are soaring. In May, average wages grew at a 6.1 percent annual rate. In April, they grew at an 8.7 percent annual rate.

Stories of mob-style cancel culture and violent protests at American universities like Yale, Evergreen State, and Middlebury are no longer the exception. Professors are now being regularly threatened with cancelation nationwide. Hardly a week goes by, it seems, without a new incident. Of course, it’s true that cancelation happens on the right, too. But a recent study, which sought to quantify cancel culture, found that it is far more prevalent on the left.
